Electric Ladyland

Oct 01, 1968

'Electric Ladyland' was the third and last album from The Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in 1968. This album is considered the most iconic of Jimi Hendrix's albums as it pushed the psychedelic funk rock sound to the absolute limit. Hendrix also cements his place as one of the best guitarists of all time on this record with absolute mastery of his electric guitar throughout. Hendrix also experimented by utilising echo, flanging, feedback, and fuzz. The genius of this album also extends to the recording and mastering itself, where the engineers and technicians carried on a revolution in sound recording that results in an all enveloping soundscape that is 'Electric Ladyland'.

There are many highlights on this album, from Jimi's reinterpretation of Bob Dylan's 'All Along the Watchtower', the scorching blues of 'Voodoo Chile', the swinging soul of 'Crosstown Traffic', and thrashing, pumping 'Voodoo Child'. The tracklist speaks for itself.
