First Rays of the New Rising Sun

Apr 22, 1997

'First Rays of the Rising Sun' is the release that Jimi Hendrix was working on when he died in 1970. The album was finished with the help of notes and recordings made in the months prior to his death. This is an important album in the legacy of Jimi Hendrix, he was heading in a different musical direction at the time with a more velvety and dreamy rock sound as heard on 'Angel'. At the same time he was still composing the thumping psychedelic funk rock that everyone recognises, as on 'Room Full of Mirrors' and 'In From the Storm'. We will never know what Jimi Hendrix had in mind for the future and as such ‘First Rays of the New Rising Sun’ is a must have musical cliff hanger.
